A whole new 3D World

The latest 3D World mag has a couple of my features in it: Weta Digital’s work on Mortal Engines, DNEG’s approach to animation, and more Stephan Fleet vfx diary insights.

Fractals and Ziva in latest 3D World

For the latest 3D World magazine, I wrote about Ziva Dynamics and its creature work, plus a special ‘Fractals’ round-up with Framestore, Method Studios, Weta Digital and Imageworks.

The tree-makers

A look behind the scenes at how Weta Digital, Imageworks, Animal Logic and ILM craft digital foliage, at 3D World magazine. Loved writing this one.

Invisible effects and how they were invisible

There’s always so much great film work around that’s invisible, and for 3D World magazine, I highlighted a few recent releases. My favourite bit is this feature image which just has the sand bags for a deer that will be later added in for the film, Three Billboards.

Horses everywhere

In February, I wrote this piece for 3D World magazine about their horse and rider agent. Check out the tutorial that Steven Regelous did, too.

Proceduralism from Rise

Back for the February 2018 issue of 3D World magazine, I talked to Rise FX about their use of procedural workflows in Houdini for Babylon Berlin and The Dark Tower.

Down the rabbit hole

The latest 3D World magazine includes my piece on Animal Logic’s vfx for Peter Rabbit. Check out the magazine here.
